Biology is the study of living things. This is put simply since there are many other factors involved here. For one, living things have structured with carbon-reinforced compounds. Other factors are that, living things are found on earth, movement, whether they respire or not, and you may even argue how alive they really may be.
It's studied in universities and in primary and post-primary schools along with English and math, as well as other science subjects in some of the present institutions in the Science departments. Some exams would place it as a part of the subjects and most topics have practical issues one may have to deal with, such as in Geography, Physics, Chemistry etc. These problems have need for seeing experiments, collecting samples, doing chemical tests etc
I personally would recommend it for growth in people's minds. Most 'developed' peoples had it in their history and most 'undeveloped' peoples did not. The same goes for countries in their present or near-present considerations. You will names like Mendel, Al Biruni, Ibne Sina, Charles Robert Darwin etc who have done a lot in Biology and Medicine finding cure and remedies in early time and laying the foundation of present-day science.
A grasp of Biology escapes people mostly because it is a study of the workings of working parts of living things from the microscopic to the macroscopic level and primarily and it sometimes involves convolving issues that cause stress during reasoning because of the large info involved. But this can be jumped-over when a serious student looks closely at the resemblances of classes of living and the resemblances between classes.
